About Nakajima
Nakajima, the largest island in the Tsukuna Islands, is a remote island floating in the stunning Seto Inland Sea. It’s just a one-hour ferry ride or 30-minute high-speed boat ride from Matsuyama, the largest city in Shikoku. With a population of around 3,000 residents, the area around our resort is serene and peaceful, offering a glimpse of the tranquil island life. You’ll find a few small supermarkets and shops on the island. Nakajima is known for its primary industry, which is the cultivation of mandarin oranges, and the majority of the island is covered with mandarin orange groves.
Himegahama Beach
Himegahama Beach is right in front of our resort. It boasts approximately 500 meters of pristine white sandy shores, crystal-clear blue waters, and a magnificent view of the many islands in the vicinity. The beach area offers convenient facilities such as restrooms, showers, and changing rooms, along with accommodations nearby.
Okushi Beach
Okushi Beach is about a 10-minute walk from our resort, featuring around 500 meters of beachfront. This secluded beach often feels like your private oasis since it’s rarely crowded. On the opposite side, there is an uninhabited island known as “Hyotan Island.” During low tide, a pathway emerges, connecting the island to the mainland.

【Facilities and Services】
At THE BONDS, we provide comfortable rooms, delicious meals, and spaces for relaxation. Our hotel is designed for guests to enjoy their time at their own pace. Our dedicated staff is here to assist you in making your stay as comfortable as possible. The premises offer free Wi-Fi, and the rooftop features a deck area where you can relax while enjoying the beautiful blue skies, except during the night. Our restaurant dining area is a space for you to unwind at any time outside of the dinner hour, and it provides complimentary coffee and tea. Except for the suite rooms, all guests have access to shared bathing facilities on a rotating schedule. We also have a small convenience store near the entrance, where you can purchase snacks and drinks. The resort is located right by the seashore, allowing you to take leisurely strolls at your convenience.
【Guest Rooms】
All guest rooms are located on the second floor. THE BONDS is surrounded by mandarin orange orchards on both the east and west sides, offering a peaceful environment for your stay. Except for the Ocean Suite Room, all rooms share a common bathroom and toilet. We offer five different room types:
Ocean Suite Room
The Ocean Suite Room provides the ultimate view of the sea, offering a stunning panorama of Himegahama Beach, right in front of THE BONDS. The room features Simmons twin beds, a spacious living area of 19 sqm, and an 8 sqm balcony overlooking the sea. It is the only room with a private unit bath and toilet. Additionally, you can enjoy YouTube and Netflix.
Deluxe Twin Room
The Deluxe Twin Room is situated near the entrance of the building, providing a 16 sqm room with a sofa that offers a sea view. The Simmons beds ensure a comfortable night’s rest with the soothing sound of the waves. This room is suitable for families with small children who can sleep together.
Twin Room
The Twin Room, located in the center of the building, offers rooms facing both east and west with an approximate size of 11 sqm each. The simple rooms have nothing but beds, allowing you to open the windows and relax while gazing at the sea, mandarin orange orchards, and the mountains of Nakajima, especially during seasons other than summer.
Double Bed Room
The Double Bed Room is centrally located, offering rooms facing east and west with an approximate size of 11 sqm each. King-sized beds make this room perfect for couples seeking a relaxing getaway. It’s also ideal for families with small children who want to sleep together and strengthen their bonds.
4-Bed Room
The 4-Bed Room is located near the entrance of the building, offering a 16 sqm room with four beds. It’s a simple room with only beds, allowing you to open the windows and enjoy the sea, mandarin orange orchards, and the mountains of Nakajima, especially during seasons other than summer.
Japanese-Style Room
The Japanese-Style Room, located on the seaward side in the central part of the building, offers rooms facing both east and west, with an approximate size of 11 sqm each. You will be provided with futon bedding to prepare in the room. This room is the most affordable option at our resort. It’s a simple room that allows you to open the windows and enjoy the sea, mandarin orange orchards, and the mountains of Nakajima, especially during seasons other than summer.
【Dining】
We use locally sourced ingredients, primarily from Ehime Prefecture and Nakajima. We cherish our connections with dedicated local producers, creating our dishes in harmony with the seasons and weather conditions. We believe that even a simple meal can become more enjoyable, lively, and delicious through these connections.
For Our International Guests
Please note that our establishment follows the traditional Japanese ryokan-style of serving meals, which means we offer set courses, and changes to the menu on the day of your stay are not possible. You are required to make your meal selection in advance. If you have any dietary restrictions or allergies preventing you from consuming certain ingredients, please inform us in advance. We also have retort meals available for vegetarians and vegans. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to us via our contact form or Instagram direct messages.
【Basic Meals】
Sample Dinner: Tai (Sea Bream) Shabu-Shabu Hot Pot
Our hot pot broth is prepared with the utmost care, using a base of meticulously cleaned sea bream bones. The golden-hued broth is known for its exceptional flavor, enhanced by the use of locally acclaimed Ehime sea bream. Slightly thicker sea bream slices absorb the broth’s rich essence, making it even more delectable. To finish, we prepare a flavorful rice porridge using an abundance of sea bream and vegetable extracts.
Sample Breakfast: Japanese Breakfast Plate
Our breakfast plate features teriyaki fish, rolled omelet, pickles, fruits, yogurt, and more. It is accompanied by rice and miso soup.
Within the resort, we have a small convenience store offering items such as cup ramen, pre-packaged rice, and retort curry.
【Access】
To reach Nakajima from Matsuyama City, you can depart from two different ports: Mitsuhama and Takahama. Mitsuhama requires a one-hour ferry ride, while Takahama offers access via ferry or high-speed boat.
For guests arriving at Daura Port or Kamura Port, we offer complimentary shuttle services. Please notify us at least two days in advance of your stay if you require transportation. If you choose to walk, it will take approximately 35 minutes from Daura Port and 40 minutes from Kamura Port. Since most supermarkets and shops are concentrated around Daura Port, we recommend using this port for any shopping needs.

In his forties, Ryosuke Yamashita enjoys savoring a good drink and indulging in delicious cuisine. He has a fondness for Nakajima’s evening sunsets and diligently carries out his duties at the inn every day.
Landlady: Yukako Yamashita
Originally from Sapporo, Hokkaido, Yukako Yamashita’s hobbies include travel and wine. She has explored various destinations domestically and internationally, with her most recent adventure taking her to Kenya. Yukako’s love for wine led her to become a certified wine expert. She aspires to create a place where all guests can unwind and enjoy their stay.
